The amount you will lose, is directly dependant upon how much you hoop.
But you don't always lose in pounds, often you will start noticing the inches melting away before the scales will tip. You will gain muscle while burning fat, thusly gaining muscle weight as you lose fat weight. We recommend taking measurements using a cloth measuring tape and tracking your progress that way, rather than using a scale.
As with any exercise routine, your commitment is important, which is why we stress the importance of a hoop that is perfect for YOU.
Studies have shown that hooping with a weighted adult sized hoop (approx. 24oz.) can burn 300 calories in a 30 minute session.
Hooping is much less impact on your joints than jogging. You can also hoop anywhere, for any amount of time.
Push the coffee table over and watch it rain out the window, knowing you still got your exercise in, without wet
feet.
The amount of space you consume inside an adult hoop is really close to proportionate to that of a child in a child size hoop.
Hooping is not Calculus.
But if you think in numbers, here’s an explanation for you.
A common child hoop measuring 32" in diameter, is constructed of a piece of tube approx. 7 feet long shaped into a circle.
An adult hoop, measuring 42" in diameter is an 11-foot long heavier material tube, again, shaped into a circle.
The time it takes to make one rotation is much longer for the bigger, heavier hoop, allowing you time
to react by swaying your body front to back to meet the hoop. The weight of the hoop also adds momentum to the hoop, so it will aid you in conditioning your muscles to learn that hooping motion.
Dress in light cotton clothing the simpler, the better.
Light, form fitting cottons are best because they
do not allow the hoop to slip.
Avoid spandex and other slick material.
Depending your hooping itinerary, bare your midriff to connect with the feel of waist hooping, your arms for shoulder hooping, legs for knee hooping, etc.
Clothing should be fitting, but not too tight to move freely. Baggy clothing will also inhibit your routine.
Unless you are an experience hooper, avoid jewelry. Glasses, necklaces, bracelets, and watches get in the
way during the learning process.
Rings can cause blisters to form during hand hooping. Dangling earrings are also at risk for being pulled.
If you feel the need to dress things up as a beginner, have a hoop embellished to fit your taste.
Sneakers, or jogging shoes are the best for beginners. Many hoopers end up in socks or bare feet.
This is my preferred style, but when learning, it’s best to protect the toes from falling hoops.
